Quick Update

Sorry Family! I have been bad and not posting recently, I will try again as its helpful for me and gives me some sort of journaling.

I do have pictures of these things!!

At the end of the summer Lacey and I went camping down at Arches National Park with some friends (this was after Lacey's leg incident so we didn't do all of the hikes just some short ones).

Two weekends ago we had a Karate Tournament. If I had won my second fight I would've gotten 2nd but because I lost I got 5th (this was in sparring).

Lacey got 4th in forms so she got a little trophy.

I'll add pics to this post

Student Teaching and Sunday Dinners

I start my student teaching this Tuesday. It's been interesting to be in the classroom working with my cooperating teacher. I think we will get along very well. It's a strange position, student teaching, because I'm in this weird limbo space where I am going to be in the class, teaching everyday but it's not my name on the door or on the grades. I need to be in the school for contracted hours (7:30-3:00) but I don't have any keys to the building or my classroom.

During a meeting, I was praised for presenting my group's discussion points. "Wow. and she's a student teacher presenting to you all." I know it wasn't meant to be condescending but boy did it come out that way. My friend and classmate is an intern, which basically means that she is a student teacher with her own class who stays all year instead of one semester like me. I'm concerned that there will be more emphasis placed on my status as a student and less on my status as a teacher, despite the fact that the intern and I have the exact same amount of experience.

M. and I have been making lots of friends in our ward which is good since M's old roommates moved out of the ward to buy houses and have babies. We like having people from the ward over for Sunday dinner to make friends, play board games, and give an extra good reason to clean the house on a weekly basis. This week I am making colcannon and sausages.

Ahh! Look at that

So Lacey and I haven't cut our hair in a while. Also I cut my self shaving 2 weeks ago and haven't shaved since so I'm also getting scruffy (this pic is from just before I cut myself). I keep teasing Lacey saying I'm not going to cut my hair before we head to Georgia but I know that is a lie. I have to make it presentable for Enos' wedding. It's also starting to get cold out so there is that now too. I get to go to an IT conference tomorrow called Interface. It should be fairly fun I hope. Sorry it's short I will get another pic of both of us before we cut our hair as I have never seen Lacey's hair so long so neither have y'all!

Also thanks for the birthday wishes!

Geocaching

So I have off and on done some Geocaching recently. I have found that it is simple fun that anyone with a smart phone can enjoy. I love hiking and walking so it makes sense to do this as well. I hope to one day get an actual GPS to go with but for now my old iPhone works, I just can't do it on camp outs etc.

I haven't really done many caches nor have I taken anything (most of the caches are small) but I don't want to take anything without leaving something so I am currently in the process of gathering some junk drawer items (cool pins, maybe some marbles? coins from other countries, etc) that I think would be fun for others to find.

There are some cool things you can track as well so you leave them and track where they have been so other people leave them in other caches kind of like the old where's george website where you track one dollar bills. http://www.wheresgeorge.com/ is the site for anyone interested its quite fun to track these kids of things. Maybe I will start a bill first and if I enjoy it enough I will do the cache too.

We did a really small one yesterday (Lacey's final nickle on her index finger small). It was really fun! Well I hope you enjoyed the update family!!

Quick Update

Not much going on this week. I am doing Nunchucku lessons with karate. I think I need a new hoodie. I will let you know what if I find one. It is finally starting to warm up. We are hoping we can save enough to get Lacey into school this spring/summer term or she can get scholarships for it. Keep us in your prayers!

Love you all.

No longer sick!

Lacey got me sick this last week. We are finally feeling better. As far as news goes for the two of us there is not much to tell. I am in the process of setting up a VPN and media server on our network. I have half started it which means I just need to sit down and actually finish. This weekend we are planning a temple trip.
